Abstract

After a first heyday in the 1970s, social-scientific Public Administration in Switzerland once again is on the upswing since the millenium, which shows in a significant expansion of academic training programs. This development rests upon a solid body of research that keeps being vividly and versatilely extended as will be shown by examples from the various social-scientific sub-disciplines ranging from sociology to public management. Whereas the empirical material of this research primarily refers to the Swiss setting, its findings find remarkable international attention. While Swiss Public Administration thus has gained in size and relevance in recent years, there still is potential for a further continuation of this line of research.
